New Biomedical Engineering Option

Biomedical Engineering is one of the fastest growing engineering fields today; it truly represents the engineering field of the future. Top quality biomedical engineers are in high demand as ample career opportunities exist within industry, academia, and government.

Biomedical engineering is interdisciplinary, since it brings together domain-specific knowledge from engineering with biological and medical sciences. Career opportunities for Electrical and Computer Engineers in the field of Biomedical Engineering are related to Bioinstrumentation and Biosensors, Biomedical Imaging, Biosignal Processing, Design of Artificial Organs, and others. For a comprehensive overview of career possibilities, please watch the Emerging Field of Biomedical Engineering at IEEE.tv™.

The Department of ECE offers a new option in Biomedical Engineering for the Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering Programs. This option is specifically designed to offer students a solid interdisciplinary background in biological sciences and biomedical engineering.

NEWS OF INTEREST

New EE Specialization in Electrical Energy Systems!

ECE now offers an Electrical Engineering Biomedical Engineering Option and a Computer Engineering Biomedical Engineering Option.

A core component to the ECE degrees is the senior level projects. For some examples of past senior projects, see the CENG/ELEC 499A/B Projects page.

The ECE degrees have a number of degree options available including Mechatronics and Embedded Systems, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Computer Music, and Management. For more information on these options see the Undergraduate Program page.

Please explore the many facets of Electrical and Computer Engineering at IEEE.tv™, an internet based television network that provides special-interest programming about technology and engineering.

Bachelor of Software Engineering (BSENG), a joint program between ECE and CSC.

Current graduate students in the department may be interested in the information on the program, forms, policies, etc., collected by current Grad Rep, Emily McMilin at the ECE Grad Rep Website.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Victoria offers Bachelor, Masters and Doctoral degrees. Co-operative education is a key component of our degree programs.

The Department has over 300 undergraduate students, some 100 graduate students, and thirty-five regular and emeritus faculty members. A broad range of research is carried out by faculty and graduate students.
